Major Novice Tier 1 - Searles Motor Products, 2019-2020 (Ingersoll & District Minor Hockey)

The Ingersoll Express Novice Tier 1 Team participated in The West Niagara Minor Hockey Tournament in Grimsby over the family day weekend.  The kids were pumped up to get to the hotel and enjoy the time away from school to swim, laugh and play. But before we could get to the fun there was a game to play.

The battle of Oxford County resumed Thursday night when Ingersoll travelled south to Tillsonburg. We were seeking our first win vs the Tornadoes after a 2-2 tie the week before.

We were visited by the Wolf Pack of Paris on Sunday. Our full ice record of 2-0-1 was going to be put to the test. Our only other meeting coming in the early season of half ice play where we visited Paris and took note of the exceptional skating abilities of their team. 

Super Bowl Sunday may have been in Miami, but the question in Oxford County on Sunday was, who will win the game between the Express and the Tornadoes? With Tillsonburg winning the first couple match ups, Ingersoll was looking to build on their win from last week and carry forward the momentum needed to beat the rivals. The team was excited by being welcomed to the ice by their names and numbers over the loud speaker. The excitement was lost upon puck drop when it was apparent we are flat to start the game.

The Sunday matinee game at Ayr's NDCC.  Our bench is short, we are down to 10 players. Ronan Cottrell our injured defense man controls the middle of the bench. Encouraging and cheering on the depleted line up. With line mates Remy on vacation and Josh battling a cold our lines were juggled. Kohen got the chance to show his defensive skills. The start of the game had both teams gaining entry to one another's offensive zones. Unable to create any space the play was slow and our anticipation was high.
