Lots of Playoff Hockey for the Atom Express

The Atom Brokerlink Express have played 4 playoff games in just over a week.  They started their 4 game playoff stint on Thursday January 28th when they hosted the Ayr Flames. On Wednesday February 3rd the Express Train rolled into Simcoe, then on, February 4th, the train rolled into Paris to face the Wolf Pack before travelling onto Ayr on February 7th to play the Flames again.

On January 28th, when the Ayr Flames were in town, the first period would be a battle seeing both teams shut out and carrying a 0-0 tie into the second period.  When it looked like the second period would see shut outs for both teams again the Express would manage to bang the puck into the back of the net during a scrum in front of the net.  In the end it would be Cohen Alexander, assisted by Tyler Watts, who would bang the puck into the back of the net at the 1:40 mark of the period.  However, the lead would be short lived, when 21 seconds later, Ayr would manage to find the back of the Express net.  The third period, like the first, would see both teams shut out, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
In game two, facing the Simcoe Warriors, the boys came out flat allowing Simcoe to score 6 goals through 3 periods before answering back with one of their own, late in the 3rd with a goal from Brody Williams, assisted by Ty Shapton.  The boys would suffer a tough 6-1 loss.
February 4th,  the  Express headed into the Paris Wolf Den, the boys would come out strong, jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead with goals at the 6:45 and 5:51 marks of the 1st period.  The first goal would come from Defenceman Austin Krajewski, assisted by Cam Freeman and Willie Parsons.  The 2nd goal would also come the Express defence, this time  Freeman would find the back of the net assisted by Krajewski and Shapton.  Paris would answer back with just under a minute left in the first, giving the Express a 2-1 lead heading into the 2nd period.  The Wolf Pack would tie the game at 2-2  with 7:16 left on the clock in the 2nd period.   The Express would take a 3-2 lead at the 6:51 mark of the 2nd period with a goal from Landon Skevington assisted by Jax Nguyen and Tyler Watts. Heading into the 3rd period it would be the Express that would score first on a goal by Nguyen from Skevington, taking a 4-2 lead.  The Express would strike again at 11:11 on a goal by Shapton assisted by Skevington, giving the Express a 5-2 lead.  However, the Express would take the foot off the throttle a bit allowing the Wolf Pack to come back and tie the game at 5-5 with just under 4 minutes left in the game.  The Express boys would not lose this battle, Krajewski would score the winning goal, unassisted, with 1:45 left in the game.  The boys would skate away with a well deserved 6-5 victory .
The Express Train would pull into Ayr on Sunday February 7th to play the flames.  The boys came out strong winning puck battles and foot races, it would take them most of the 1st period before Ingersoll found the back of the net on a goal from Cohen Alexander assisted by Willie Parsons with the clock reading 0:01 left in the 1st period.  Ingersoll would extend their lead to 2-0 at the six minute mark of the second when Jack Wolfe would find his defence partner Cam Freeman, who would make no mistake in finding the back of the net. The Express would take a 3-0 lead, when Alexander would score, unassisted, at the 4:37 mark of the 2nd period.  Ayr would score their lone goal at 5:13 of the 3rd period. The Express train would roll out of Ayr with a 3-1 win.
The Brokerlink Atom Rep team will continue their playoff round robin on Thursday February 11th at 7:00pm when the Caledonia Thunder roll into Ingersoll.
