The Brokerlink Atom Rep team falls to Simcoe
The atom rep team would host the Simcoe Warriors tonight and although this game was originally scheduled to be a Southern Counties playoff game it was changed to be Game 1 in Round 1 of the OWHA Playdowns.
The Simcoe Warriors jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, scoring 2 goals in the first period and putting the Atom Express boys behind the eight ball. The boys would battle hard to make a comeback but would be held scoreless through 20 minute of play. As the boys continued to win puck battles and get their chances with shots on net, they would finally pull within a goal when Jack Wolfe would find Cohen Alexander who would get a shot on net, grab his rebound and throw it back out front to find Jax Nguyen who would beat the Simcoe goalie at 7:23 of the 3rd period. The Express boys would get chance after chance to tie the game but the Simcoe goalie would continue to shut them out. With the Express goalie pulled for the extra attacker, Simcoe would manage to secure their win with an empty net goal with 34 seconds left in the 3rd period. The final score in Game 1 of the OWHA playdown would be 3-1 in favour of Simcoe. However, the Express boys will travel to Simcoe on Sunday afternoon to play Game #2 and will be looking to tie the series at one game a piece. Good luck boys!!!!
