Atom Express Start Southern Counties Playoff Run
The Atom Brokerlink Rep team started their playoff run this week, facing both the Caledonia Thunder and the Paris Wolf Pack.  The boys would start the playoff run, travelling to Caledonia on Wednesday January 6th, to play the Thunder.

In game 1 of the playoff run, it would be Caledonia that would strike first at 8:04 of the first period, putting the boys in catch up mode.  Then at 6:27 of the first period Tyler Watts would break down the right wing and make a great tape to tape pass to Cohen Alexander, who would make no mistake in beating the Thunder goalie and tying the game 1-1 after 10 minutes of play.  Heading into the 2nd period the boys would battle hard and at 7:44, Adam VanDyk, would hit Watts with a stretch pass, springing Watts on a breakaway and he would beat the Thunder goalie with a great shot, putting the Express ahead 2-1.  The game would go back and forth until the 2:06 of the 2nd period when Caledonia would tie the game at 2-2.  As Both teams battled through the 3rd period, goalie Nate White would shut out the Thunder, however, the Express would be shut out as well, ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
On Thursday January 7, the Paris Wolf Pack would roll into Ingersoll to play the Express in game 2 of the Southern Counties playoff run.  Both teams were ready to playing the first period would see very little scoring but some great hockey.  Then at 1:07 of the first period the Express train would start rolling when, Landon Skevington would get his stick on a rolling puck, after Alexander won the face off draw, causing the puck would go up and over the Wolf Pack goalie, putting Ingersoll ahead 1-0.  Goal tender, Ewan Spence, would shut out the Wolf pack, allowing the Express to take a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period. However, the Express would be shut out of the 2nd period but the Wolf Pack managed to score 2 goals.  The Express would be down 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.  Heading into the 3rd period the Express boys would come out aggressive and at 6:19 of the 3rd period, Ty Shapton would find VanDyk at the point, whose shot would beat the Paris goalie to tie the game at 2-2.  As both teams continued to battle back and forth and the clock continued to wind down, Paris would strike with a power play goal at 1:07 of the 3rd period to pull ahead 3-2.  Unfortunately, the Express boys could not answer back and would suffer a tough 3-2 loss.
The Atom Brokerlink Express will play an exhibition on Saturday January 9th, when they will host the Mitchell Meteors at 4:15pm.  Their next playoff game will be on Thursday January 14th at 7:00pm when they will host the Simcoe Warriors.
