Express Come Up Short In 4-2 Loss to Wolfpack
Article Submitted by Mike Martineau

The Shooters Photography Midget team travelled to Paris on Friday to face off against the Wolfpack. Looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to the Express in Ingersoll ten days earlier, the Paris3 LL squad showed good hustle in the first, scoring the opening goal four minutes in and snuffing out an Ingersoll power play in the final minutes of the period.

The Express offence sputtered to life in the second. Alex Schuett and Cohen Belore worked their magic to create a quality scoring chance, but the Paris goaltender stood his ground. Dawson Sharpe was forced to make a nice pad save as the Wolfpack pressed for a powerplay goal late in the period. Some pushing and shoving late in the frame resulted in an early exit for one of the Paris forwards.

The home team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the third on a soft goal, but the Express quickly got one back when a Daniel Martineau backhander was tipped into the net by Austin Brunelle. The Wolfpack responded with two quick goals of their own. With a comfortable 4 to 1 lead, Paris began to take undisciplined penalties, creating powerplay opportunities for the Express. Ingersoll pulled to within two when Alex Schuett took a drop pass from Tanner George and rifled it home with four minutes left to play. The Wolfpack were on their heels for the remainder of the period, but managed to hang on for the 4-2 victory. Tempers flared on the ice and in the crowd after the final buzzer.

Despite the loss, Ingersoll remains tied for first in the Midget 2nd half A standings. The Express will return to Paris on Sunday to battle the Wolfpack LL1 team.
