Express Pick Up Where They Left Off in League Play
Article Submitted By: Mike Martineau

The Shooters Photography Midget LL team started the second half of the season on a winning note, downing the visiting Waterford Wildcats 4-1.

Ingersoll opened the scoring two minutes in when Daniel Pullen took a pass from Alex Shuett and tucked it in behind the Waterford goaltender. The Wildcats got that one back two minutes later, but Ingersoll regained the lead when Pullen set up number 17 for a powerplay goal. Ingersoll came close to making it 3-1 when Ben Scott controlled the puck behind the Waterford net and fed a nice pass out to Daniel Martineau who had drifted into the high slot area. Martineau’s wrist shot was absorbed by the Wildcat’s netminder.

The Express continued to press in the second.  Forwards Liam Knox, Matt Molnar and Daniel Pullen chopped away at the puck in the crease area before Knox finally managed to slide a backhand shot along the ice and over the goal line. Playing five on four with less than a minute remaining in the period, Brendan Aarts and Daniel Martineau took turns unleashing shots from the blue line, but nothing got through, and Ingersoll carried a 3-1 lead into the final frame.

With nine minutes left to play Max Branderhorst knocked in a Ben Scott rebound to put the home team up by three. Later in the period Ingersoll enjoyed a two man advantage for a minute and a half. While on the powerplay a Liam Knox shot found its way through the goaltender’s equipment but trickled wide of the post.

The Midget LL team will hold a practice on Tuesday as they prepare to compete in the International Silver Stick tournament next weekend. Go Express!!
