The
Shooters Photography Midget Local League team travelled to Simcoe on Wednesday
and came away with a 3-1 win over the Warriors.
Matt Molnar opened the scoring with an unassisted goal for the Express half way through the opening frame. Ingersoll ran into penalty trouble late in the period, playing two men short for 34 seconds. Dawson Sharpe came up big, stoning the attacking Warriors in close to preserve the 1-0 lead for Ingersoll.
With 3 minutes remaining in the second period, hard working forward Cohen Belore pounced on a loose puck in the corner and feathered a perfect pass out to Liam Knox who buried it, putting the Express up 2-0. Brendan Aarts earned an assist on Ingersoll’s second goal.
Simcoe got one back early in the third, cutting the Ingersoll lead in half. Tyler Bergman continued to dominate in the face off circle, and Tanner George impressed with his gritty work along the boards. Simcoe pulled their goaltender with less than a minute to play, but speedster Alex Schuett tallied an empty net goal in the dying seconds of the game to clinch the victory for the Express, who improved their record to 5-2-1.
