Game #10 S.C Playoffs - An anti-climatic end to a great season
With the expected announcement from the OMHA suspending the balance of the season, tonight's 3-1 loss against Plattsville was really secondary considering what is happening in the world. Instead of talking about the game itself, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the coaching staff that included Jamie Belore, Chris Pare, Billy Huitema, Trevor Durham and Kevin Condotta for doing such an amazing job, in what turned out to be a very awesome season for the Dove Dental Peewee A/E team.

This team had it all. An amazing work ethic, team unity, no one player was bigger than the team itself. We had an amazing parent group, with no drama, who supported each and every kid, during the good times and the not so good times. There were high fives, fist pumps and lots of cheering. We had two tournament wins, one in St.Mary's and one in Huntsville. We were finalists in Regional Silverstick, and made it to the semi-finals at International Silver Stick. We lost a hard fought battle in the end against Strathroy in the semi finals of the OMHA playdowns, and tonight, with the announcement of play being suspended, the chances of playing for the Southern Counties Championships seem far fetched at this point. Regardless of all that, these boys walk out of the arena with their heads held high knowing that they played the game the right way. They were coached the right way. They respected the beautiful game of hockey the right way. We had a rotating goaltender tandem that was solid from start to finish. We had a dynamite defense, who gave it their all each and every game. Our forwards were passionate and determined to succeed, right to the end of every game.

With a final record of 51-15-7, it would be easy for anyone to assume that this was a special group of kids, but it was so much more than that, and I hope one day, when they are older, they can look back and be proud of what a season they had. As a parent, I could not be more proud of how they handled themselves, and played with the respect of the game top of mind. It's sad to see it come to an end tonight, but one thing is certain, this group will never be forgotten. Congratulations to the entire team, who each brought a special something to the arena every night. The entertainment value alone was worth the commitment each of these young men brought to the rink.
