Game # 3 OMHA S.F - Express dig deep to earn a tie on the Road.
Just when you think all hope is lost, this team just seems to find a way. If you did not make the trek down the 402 to Strathvegas, you missed another tight game, where two teams battled hard to impose their will on one another. Back between the pipes was Tanner Belore, who was coming off a fantastic game on Saturday.

I'll be honest, the first period was not our best. The boys were tentative and struggled to find any rhythm on the big ice, and the Jr. Rockets took advantage of the extra space given to them. Thankfully Belore held his own, but with only 21 seconds left in the opening frame, a loose puck found it's way onto a Strathroy stick and they took a 1-0 lead into the second.

Ingersoll finally started to show some life in the second winning more of the battles that they were losing earlier in the game. The period ended with the Express still down by one.

In period three, the Express tried desperately to get pucks to the net, but credit to the Strathroy D line, who did not give us much space to work. Strathroy took a two goal lead late in the third, again after a great effort by Belore, but an unfortunate bounce went against us. With Belore pulled, the Rockets would head to the sin bin for a unnecessary roughing call, and a mad scramble in front was tipped just past the Rockets goaltender by Taylor Murray assisted by Brody Huitema and Ethan Kish. With only 30 seconds left and with Belore still on the bench, we made our way back down, and a wrist shot by Kian Brown hit Eli North in the head, and deflected passed a Rockets goalie, and a stunned home crowd as only 1.6 seconds showed on the clock. The boys celebrated tying the game, but we were going to overtime.

It was gut check time, as both teams made a concerted effort to end this. It seemed that the Rockets did just that but a puck slid right through the blue paint along the line, but did not cross the red line. As they jumped for joy, the Express continued to play as the refs clearly waived off the goal, and we almost got one of our own. Not our best effort of the series, but a well earned point, as they showed grit and determination not to check out after going down by two.

Thursday would be a great night to head down to our barn, as both our Peewee Rep, and our boys have an opportunity to punch their tickets to the OMHA finals in back to back contests. Both squads need all the support we can muster for them. It will be the best few bucks you will spend this week.

All the best boys, in your quest to reach the finals!!
