Game #4 OMHA Playdowns - Express lose a tough one
The building was packed ready to cheer on the hometown Peewee A/E Express as they played game 4 of the semi final series. The Express had a chance to end this series tonight at home, leading the series 4 pts to 2, but it would take a monumental effort from all to accomplish this, as Strathroy has given us all we could handle and more in this series. With Tanner Belore in the net, we were ready to give it all we had.

It was obvious from puck drop, that the Rockets wanted to jump on us early and they did just that, but Belore shut the door quickly. However, an errant pass on a breakout landed on the stick of the Strathroy forward, who wired one passed and unsuspecting Belore, to give the visitors the early lead. Strathroy kept the foot on the gas and scored again late in the frame giving themselves a two goal cushion headed to the second.

Whatever the coaching staff said to the boys between periods worked, as the Express started playing a more aggressive style which started to pay dividends, when Cole McNeil spotted a streaking Ethan Kish, who fed a perfect pass out to Tyler Fleming to cut the lead by one. Each team had a powerplay during the frame, but both squads barely gave an inch.

Period three was a penalty filled period with five minors called, but either team could put the puck past the opposing goalie. Ingersoll poured it on almost out chancing their opponents 2-1, but in the end we just could not muster a tying goal. Strathroy walked away with a 2-1 win, now a tied series and we are heading back to Strathroy on
Saturday in hopes of keeping our hopes alive. We all believe in our team and know they will bring all they got to the Gemini Sportsplex. If you want to come out to support these great ambassadors to our town, you will not be disappointed. Go Express Go!
