Game #3 Q.F' s OMHA Playdowns - Express fall to the Wolves
The Peewee A/E Express made their way down to Niagara on the Lake with hope of eliminating the Wolves in game 3 of this feisty series. Belore would take the net again as Ben Baker is still away from the team this weekend. Coming off a emotional victory at home yesterday, the plan was simple, three strong periods of Express hockey. NOTL was certainly not going to roll over though, and it was apparent early, this was going to be a barnburner.

Ingersoll would get on the board first, when Tyler Fleming used some great moves in tight quarters to bury the puck past the NOTL netminder, after Eli North fed a pass to Alex Stratton, who found Fleming in front of the net. It was the start the boys wanted, but the Wolves were undeterred, and only twenty seconds later gained the zone and put the puck past Belore to tie the score at one. Ingersoll took flight again, and with only 55 seconds left in the first frame, Brody Huitema found a streaking Ryan Condotta, who let a great shot go and gave the Express the lead 2-1. After a mad scramble in front of the net, coincidental minors were called, for roughing, heading into the second period we were going to have some 4 on 4 hockey

The Wolves came out of the break flying and before you knew it, we had a tied contest again. However that was short lived as Kian Brown intercepted a bad clearing attempt, and let his patented wrist shot fly, passed the goalie and into the back of the net. Eli North would get into the action by giving the Express a two goal lead, after Tyler Fleming's strong effort behind the net, he was able to find Ethan Kish, who put the puck on a wide open North and we had what we seemed was a comfortable two goal lead. But again a broken play later and the Wolves just snuffed out any momentum we had gained. Ingersoll would then take two minors on a play when the Wolves crashed the net on Belore. Down two men, the boys bent, but did not brake, and killed the penalties, and limped into the third up 4-3 , but momentum clearly in the home teams favour.

In the third, the Wolves tied the game, as we scored on our own net as a ricochet puck, went to one corner, as Belore was heading to the other, and you could just see the wind come out of the sails. Not a minute later a missed assignment let the Wolves head in all alone, and went blocker side on a sprawled out Belore, but it was just out of his reach. The boys tried desperately to reset, but were unable to get one passed a all of a sudden confident NOTL goaltender. With the goalie pulled we were able to get a couple chances, but it was not meant to be, as there will be lots of time to reflect on what did not go right, and try to regroup tomorrow at the friendly confines of our home barn. Lots of rest tonight boys. Your going to have to give it all you got tomorrow.
