Game #1 OMHA Q.F - Wine Country bears fruit for the Express
Sorry to those who missed my last report. For some reason, a Rogers glitch did not save my beautifully written article, so in an effort to save face, I will try to replay for you a well played game by our boys, as we made the 1:45 minute drive down to Niagara on the Lake, for a date with the Wolves. Starting in goal for the Express was Tanner Belore on this night. This was a team we knew very little about, so getting out to a great start was key for us setting the tone of this series, that will have continue the series back and fourth over the Family Day Weekend.

It did not take long for the Express to take the lead as Eli North scored less than two minutes in, after Alex Stratton found his center ready to deposit his pass behind the Wolves goaltender. Ingersoll continued their 200ft press as they were the more dominant team in the first frame. Eli would find the back of the net again later on, after a great individual effort to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. It would be Taylor Murray scoring less than a minute later, as his linemates Owen Clarke and Ryan Condotta were awarded helpers. The period ended at 3-0, as the boys wanted to put their stamp on this series early.

Period two, Ingersoll continued to control the pace, but the Wolves would put up a little more of a fight as the game wore on. Eli North would not be denied his hatty, as he picked up a loose puck and proceeded to walk in and rifle a shot passed the NOTL netminder. The game at this point was starting to get a little more chippy as 4 minor penalties, two on each squad was called in the second frame. Period two came to an end with the boys comfortably ahead 4-0.

The Wolves would get on the board after Tanner made an initial save, on a low shot on goal, but the rebound eluded the young netminder, and the Wolves pounced on the rebound. It was a bit more back and fourth hockey for the majority of the period, but the Express "D" held their ground and limited any hopes that NOTL would get back into this contest. Ingersoll would score one more for good measure as Tyler Fleming buried a dagger into the Wolves with assists going to Alex Stratton and Eli North.

Great start the the series boys. A game vs Tavistock tonight, and a nice little break until we meet again Saturday at the Madhouse on Mutual. Way to go Express!!
