Game #3 I.S.S In tough against Orangeville
After attending the Opening ceremonies for the tournament last night, it was back to the hotel for a early cerfew, as the boys needed to get up at 5am to get to Port Colbourne to face one of the pre tournament favorites, the Orangeville Flyers. Back in net in yet another fantastic facility, the Vale Center was Ben Baker, who shut out a squad from Colorado a day earlier.

The boys put forth a valiant effort against this Flyer team that were all major peewee age. Things started out promising with the Express having a two man advantage, but were unable to capitalize. It was not until with about 2:30 seconds left in the first, that the Flyers scored to give themselves a 1-0 advantage over our boys.

In the second, the boys gave it all they had, great scoring opportunities by Eli North, Jeremy Stiles and Alex Stratton just could not find the back of the net. A call on the ice of a high stick tipped puck that found the back of the net was initially called no goal, was overturned by the other official. This goal seemed to take the steam out of the engine, and after an initial delay, it was only a few moments later that Orangeville scored again, and took a 3-0 lead into the 3rd.

Ben played courageously throughout the entire game, but their team continued to throw rubber his way. Our boys need to just let that game leave their heads, as the final score of 8-0 was no indication of the effort they brought to the arena. The boys stayed to watch a period of our Midget LL team participating, before heading back to the hotel to refuel with a proper breakfast, take a load off and head back to Niagara Falls, where we play San Jose, for a chance to play in the semi finals tomorrow. Go get them Express!!
