A point well earned -- Game 13 vs the Huskies
Submitted By Rich McNeil on Monday, November 25, 2019
The Peewee A/E Express headed up to highway to visit New Hamburg. The Huskies consecutive winning streak was ended at eight games by Plattsville, so we were getting involved in a game, where the home team was hungry to get back into the win column. Our boys on the other hand wanted to revenge a loss to these Huskies, a week prior.

Tonight we started with Tanner Belore between the pipes. The first period was a fast paced period with the Express controlling much of the play, and a couple of good scoring chances by Jeremy Stiles and Eli North, were all we could muster in a scoreless first.

With a 15 minute second period on tap, the boys took the foot off the gas for a bit, and momentum swung back in the Huskies favour for the first six minutes of the period, before the Express found their legs again and started to push a bit harder. Regardless, the second period resulted in no goals for either side, and we would have to settle this in the third.

Coach Belore made a goaltending change, to Ben Baker, keeping with his rotation and keeping both of our solid netminders engaged in each contest. Not one to make excuses, but the far from superior ice conditions made for a frustrating third period. A team like ours built on speed and passing, struggled to get anything going, due to the build up of snow, especially near both players benches. Both squads had power play time, but could not find the back of the net. With only five minutes to go, a short handed opportunity by the Huskies was thwarted, by an amazing stop by young Baker, who solidified a tough 0-0 tie. A great effort from the boys, who probably deserved a better fate. The boys are back on home soil tomorrow with a date with the Thunder. Great Effort Boys!!
