No Thunder Down Under.... - Game 12
After a tough loss Tuesday to the hands of New Hamburg, it was time to see how the boys would bounce back. We headed down the 403 to our favorite restaurant aka... the Caledonia Arena, for a date with the Thunder. Even though Caledonia had a record on 2-9 coming into the contest, past scores would suggest that they may have been a bit snake bitten, as they have been involved in many 1 goal games. However tonight would not be one of those nights, as the Express were not going to be denied on this night

Tanner Belore started for the Express, all decked out in their visitor red jerseys. Once the puck dropped, you knew that this was just going to be one of those games as Ethan Kish entered the zone and beat the goaltender, but not the post. The pressure inside the Thunder zone was relentless as our boys threw rubber at the Caledonia netminder. Our first goal came at the 7:09 mark as Eli North picked up the puck from Mason Durham and beat the goalie to get us on the board. North would add his 2nd a couple minutes later to make it a 2-0 lead. The boys just kept and Jeremy Stiles would add two of his own before the end of the period to make it 4-0 and you get the sense where this is going.

With all due respect to our opponents, the Express truly dominated this contest from start to finish, and without a strong game from the Caledonia goaltender, this could have been a much more lopsided affair. 2nd period markers by Taylor Murray, Logan Pare and Ryan Condotta stretched the lead to 7-1 after two. Our boys moved the puck real well tonight and took the opportunity to work on getting the puck back to the defense and moving to open space to create numerous scoring chances. The frustration in our opponents was apparent as they spent much of the game short handed, and we stayed out of the box entirely, not getting sucked into any silly play.

Ben Baker came out in the third, but was not tested as the Express D gave nothing the Thunder for space at all. Jeremy Stiles would complete the hat trick in the 3rd, as the Express walked away with an 8-1 win, and able to maintain 1st place in the standings. Caledonia comes to our barn next week for a rematch on Tuesday, but before that a Saturday practice before another shot at the Huskies from New Hamburg on Monday in hopes of giving them their first loss of the season. Congrats boys on a solid team win tonight.
