The Ingersoll Express Ponting Financial Group Peewee Rep team participated in the Delhi Tobacco Town tournament on the weekend.
On Friday at noon, our boys would travel to Delhi to play the Mount Brydges Cougars. The first period of the game would be back and forth, Ingersoll goalie, Hunter Collins, would shut the door on the Cougars. However, the Cougars goalie, would respond by shutting out our Express boys, taking a 0-0 tie into the second period.
It would Mt. Brydges that would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the second period, scoring their 2nd goal with only 0:14 seconds left. Ingersoll would not roll over, answering back on a goal by Tyler Watts, assisted by Emmett Gedies and Nicholas Yoworski with 0:01 seconds left in the 2nd period.
Ingersoll would tie the game on a goal from Gedies, assisted by Yoworski and Watts, with 4:55 left in the game. The boys would continue to pressure the Cougars goalie and the Cougars would continue to pressure Express goalie, Collins. However, neither goalie would allow another goal ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
The Express boys would hit the ice again at 8:00pm and the Aylmer Flames would be their opponent. Ingersoll would get on the scoreboard with only 2 minutes left in the 1st period on a goal from Yoworski assisted by Jaxson Vandevenne. Our boys would strike again early in the 2nd period, when Gedies would find the back of the net assisted by Watts. Ingersoll would take a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period. The 3rd period would see Ingersoll score 2 more goals, Gedies would score again at the 7:41 mark and Carter Aarts would score an unassisted goal with 6:59 left in the game. Express goalie, Nate White would earn a shut out and the team a 4-0 win.
The Ingersoll Express train would roll back into Delhi at 5:00pm on Saturday to play the Simcoe Warriors. Our boys would need a win or a tie in this game to move onto Sunday. Unfortunately, it would be Simcoe to score 1st early in the game, but Ingersoll would tie the game 2 minutes later, on a goal from Ryan Vandersar, assisted by Dylan Condotta. Ingersoll would take the lead 2-1, at the 5:01 mark of the 2nd period when Yoworski would score, assisted by Gedies and Watts. Simcoe would rally back to tie the game 2-2 early in the 3rd period, unfortunately, that would not be the end of Simcoe’s good fortune, they would take a 3-2 lead with2:38 left in the game. Simcoe would score an empty net goal handing Ingersoll a tough 4-2 loss and knocking Ingersoll out of the tournament.
The Ingersoll Express Boys will turn their attention back to league play on Tuesday December 5th at 7:00pm when they will host the Cayuga Stars.
