Haliburton Success

Job well done!

The weekend of October 20, the Peewee Ponting Financial Group Rep team competed in
the Matt Duchene Fall Classic in Haliburton. The boys would not play on Friday setting
them up to play 3 round robin games on Saturday.
Puck drop for game 1 would be at 10:00am against the Whitby Wildcats. Whitby would
pull ahead 2-0, however, the Ingersoll boys would not quit, they battled their way back to
end the game in a 2-2 tie.
After a short rest, Ingersoll would face off against the Toronto Avalanche at 3:00pm. The
boys jumped out to a very early 2-0 lead, forcing the Avalanche to make a goalie change.
We would battle hard, in a very fast paced game, keeping a 2-1 lead late into the game
when the Avalanche would manage to tie it up at 2-2. Game 2, would end in another 2-2
tie.
Game 3 started at 7:00pm and would see our Ingersoll boys facing the Mariposa
Lightening. The boys again jumped out to an early lead, this time never looking back and
never relinquishing the lead. This game would see us start to develop some great
chemistry, with great skating, passing and some beauty goals. Although Mariposa
managed to net 2 goals, the boys would get their first win of the weekend with a 5-2 final.
This win solidified a 2
nd
place finish in our pool, earning them a spot in the semi-final
game on Sunday morning.
The semi-final game would be played at 9:30am against the Essa Hawks. The boys
looked strong dominating play for the entire game. Both the forwards and the defence
played hard and worked well together earning them 7-0 victory and a spot in the finals.
Sunday’s final game, played at 3:30pm, saw the Ingersoll boys compete against the
Toronto Avalanche, who we tied earlier in the tournament, 2-2. The boys knew what to
expect in a quick Avalanche team, but that would not deter the boys from coming out and
giving a 100% effort. Ingersoll would be the first to get on the board and from there they
would never look back. The Ingersoll Ponting Financial Group Rep team would go on to
win the game by a final score of 4-1. Congratulations to all the boys and the coaching
staff on a great weekend of hockey and our first tournament win of the year.
Keep up the hard work boys!
