Ingersoll Atom Vision Property Mgmt vs. Waterford Wildcats #2
The Express train set out for a beautiful sunny ride on Saturday and made a stop in Waterford for the players to hit the ice at 11:30.  The team was pretty quiet in the dressing room before the game as the players received last minute instruction from parents and coaches.  The puck dropped and 10 seconds later Ingersoll was in the penalty box for 2 minutes for body checking.  The Wildcat player lay on the ice for a minute but made her way to the bench as the players tapped their sticks.

The puck was dropped again and the Wildcats forced their way down the right hand side.  The puck crossed over the blue line and a Wildcat scooped up the puck and fired a shot from the hash mark.  The quick shot caught Ingersoll's off guard and the puck squeezed between the skate and the post to cross the line for a goal.  The score was 1-0 at 9:27 and Ingersoll was back to full strength.  Ingersoll went on the offensive and drew a tripping penalty soon after at 8:12.  The players did a great job moving the puck up the boards and into the Wildcat zone.  There was a few shots on net and a great chance to score but the puck was blocked by a diving goalie.  It was the strong effort in th corners to create the chances for the puck to get on the net.  The Wildcats managed to burn the time off the clock and escape the penalty with score remaining 1-0.  The puck was end to end with icing calls happening for both teams until the Wildcats settled into the Ingersoll end of the ice and poured on the pressure. The puck slid back to the blue line on a clearing attempt but the defence man was there to hold it in and send it back to the corner.  There was a battle for the puck and Wildcats came up with possession.  There was pass to the hash mark and a shot made it to the back of the net for the second goal of the game.  The score was now 2-0 with 4:15 left in the first period.  Ingersoll stormed back to the Wildcats end and fired multiple shots on net without success.  It was great to see the players making scoring chances and digging deep with tons of effort.  The Wildcats finally managed to clear the puck and get down the ice with the puck ending up in the left hand corner.  The puck came out to the front of the net and a player from each team took a mighty lash at the puck and it flew high up in the air.  Ingersoll's goalie had no idea where the puck was and it flutter over him and into the net at 1:33.  It was an unlucky break for the Ingersoll crew and the period would end with a score of 3-0.
The second period started with a bang as shortly after puck drop there was collision between 2 Ingersoll players at their own blue line leaving both players on the ice and the Wildcats going to the net with a 3 on 1.  After a few shots a rebound made it through the five hole and the score was now 4-0 at 8:46 of the second period.  Both players seemed to be ok and made it off the ice without help.  Again, Ingersoll battled back and didn't give up.  #11 Cole Ialenti raced down the right hand side of the ice and blew past the defence man while tipping the puck to the open ice ahead.  The puck was nearly stolen by the other defence man who came across the ice to help but Cole made a diving effort and stabbed the puck past the goalie to light the lamp at 6:06.  What an awesome effort Cole!  Waterford wasn't finished and added 2 more goals to finish the second period with a score of 6-1.
The third period was Ingersoll's best defensive effort of the season.  The score was held at 6 as no goals where allowed.  The players did an excellent job of using the boards to clear the puck and not give the puck away in front of the net.  Defensive hockey never gets the glory on the score sheet but all players should be proud of how they finished the game.  Another tough loss but lots of improvement!
