Atom LL Vision Property Mgmt vs. Port Dover
The Express train stayed in the station for the day as the Port Dover Pirates sailed into town on Sunday for an exciting rematch.  These two evenly matched teams battled each other all game and it went right down to the final seconds.  It was a fun game to watch from the stands and a heart breaker for the Ingersoll players in the end.

The play was intense from the first puck drop at centre ice with both teams grinding along the boards, battling to gain puck possession in the offensive zone.  The defence from both team did an excellent job of clearing the puck from the front of the net and there was not a good scoring chance to be had.  Ingersoll's goalie #1 Damien Vandamme had his first real test at the 6 minute mark after a Port Dover player made a nice clearing pass off the boards to the waiting winger who had slipped behind the Ingersoll defence.  It was a clear cut break away but Damien was ready and made a brilliant save as he was sliding to the left.  Great Job Damien!  The face off was now to his left and Port Dover took control of the puck and worked it into the corner.  The puck made its way to the net where Damien made the save and the puck slid to the side of the net.  A Port Dover player was there and somehow shot the puck behind Damien, through the crease and off the far post while staying out of the net.  Luck was on Ingersoll's side early!  The puck quickly made its way to the other end of the rink and Ingersoll's #2 Nathan Kapitor did a great job of sliding in from the blue line to grab the puck at the hash mark.  Nathan made a fantastic pass right onto the tape of #15 Caden Groves who snap the puck into the back of the net to start the scoring at 3:44!  Nice team effort on that goal!  The period would end with a score of 1-0.
The Port Dover team had meeting at the bench and started the 2nd period with some serious tenacity!  The puck stayed in Ingersoll's end and every clearing attempt was foiled.  At 8:24 an Ingersoll defence man failed to see the Port Dover player streaking to the net and cut off his ill advised pass in front of the net and buried the puck through the 5 hole.  This tied the game up at 1 goal a piece.  Port Dover did not ease up and continued to dominate the boards using good player position to hold the puck inside the blue line.  Ingersoll seemed trapped in their own end and coughed the puck up while trying to stick handle through a wall of players (that would be my kid!).  The puck was stripped and with 2 Port Dover players alone in front of the net Damien had no chance and the goal was scored at 5:59.  Ingersoll was now trailing 2-1.  The Express train tried to tie things up at the end of the period when #15 Caden Groves cruised down the centre of the ice on a break away as time expired but the goalie made a great stop as the horn sounded.
Ingersoll started the 3rd period much better than the second and forced the puck into the oppositions end of the rink and worked hard to keep it there.  The Port Dover goalie was tested early but steered the puck wide of the net.  The Express train was at full steam now and really applying the pressure.  #11 Cole Ialenti showed off his speed as he burst past the defence and charged down the right hand side of the ice.  #6 Nicholas Carney knew what to do and headed straight to the net from the left hand side.  Cole made a tape to tape pass to Nic at the hash mark and Nic blasted the puck just inside the post at 7:44 to tie up the game!  That was a highlight reel goal boys, great job!  The arena was really rocking with the Ingersoll fans getting good use out of the horn!  Port Dover was not deterred by the excitement in the stands and went right back on the offensive.  The puck seemed locked in the Express end of the ice and the defence was trapped in the corner.  There was an attempt to clear the puck up the centre of the zone but was cut off by the Port Dover winger at top of the circle who took a quick shot on net.  Somehow the puck made it through a pile of legs and crossed the goal line at 5:12 to give Port Dover the lead back.  The play was now end to end with both teams tiring and players getting caught out of position at both ends.  Ingersoll chipped the puck into into the Port Dover end and it was race for the puck.  The Ingersoll defence pairing tied the game up at 3:51 when #12 Marshall Karmiris chased the puck into the right hand corner to join pile and came up with puck.  Marshall passed the puck back to #2 Nathan Kapitor who took a shot towards the net from blue line at the right hand boards. The Port Dover goalie was being screened by his own defence man and the puck slid into the net untouched!  This was Nathan's second goal of the year from the same spot on the ice!  Excellent job Nate, that goal proves the theory of shoot early and often!  The score was all tied up at 3.   It looked like the game was going to end in a tie but Port Dover gave one last push in the final minute of play and swarmed the Ingersoll net.  The Ingersoll defence man was all alone behind his net and could not move the puck past the two Port Dover players in his way.  The puck ricochet to the front of the net and 2 Port Dover players who stood all alone banged 2 shots on net with the second crossing the line with 40 seconds remaining.  The score of 4-3 would remain the same at the final horn with Port Dover taking the win.  It was a close, exciting game and every player should be proud of their efforts.
