Louies Pizza Bantam Rep Team Advance To Semi Finals
The Ingersoll Express Bantam Rep team sponsored by Louies Pizza put Ayr out in three games and advanced to the semi-finals in OMHA playoffs.
After a game cancellation on Saturday night due to weather conditions, the Express hosted Ayr for game three of OMHA playoffs. With the Ingersoll Bantam Rep team up two games Ayr was facing elimination and came out swinging. The Express got a wake up call when Ayr scored early in the first with momentum flowing their way. The score stayed 1-0 for the rest of the first period. With both teams battling through the second period Clayton Hammond put the puck to Robbie Jackson on the point who buried a slap shot in the back of the net at 4:37 to make it 1-1. With only two minutes left in the 2nd Ayr got another goal to make it 2-1 ending the period. The zamboni came out to clean up the ice before the 3rd allowing the coaches time for a chat with the boys. The third period was a different story, the Express were ready to rock. Goalie Noah Robinson played the puck to Jacob Banderhorst who passed it to Eric Savoie over our blue line, Savoie drove to their net undressing the goalie making it 2-2 . It would not be easy Ayr would not go quietly so the Express would have to keep the pressure on. Goalie Robinson and the defense consisting of Matt Berzins, Jack Van Egdom, Robbie Jackson and Tanner Gray would hold strong in our end. Forwards Maxx Shelton, Alex Foster, Tanner Geddies, Justin Holmes, Ben Jentz and Jacob Branderhorst gave 100% putting on the pressure then with 3 minutes left Tyler Arts passed to Eric Savoie who put the puck on Clayton Hammonds tape which he put top shelf with a wrister. The Express held Ayr off for the rest of the game with the score ending up 3-2 Ingersoll advancing them to the semi finals. Go Express!
