Express Sink Sailors Late, and Paris Comes in Tough!
The Oxford Chiropractic Atom Reps continued Southern County round robin play on Wednesday, February 24th on the road against the Port Dover Sailors.

The Express riding high from previous outings looked very sluggish for the first two periods of this game. Whether it was the distraction of the Olympics and Canada playing Russia on this night, who knows, but it wasn’t pretty hockey, with Port Dover leading 2-0 going into the 3rd period.

In 3rd period, the Express, and maybe the coaches kick started the team to play the way they have been in games prior to this one. Eric Savoie, who has been on a tear as of late, got the team going with a goal at the 10:47 mark. Then Savoie, tallied again a few minutes later to tie the score at 2-2. The team then carried this energy forward, and Tanner Moon scored at the 5:21 mark to help the Express take the lead for good. Grayson Lochhead added another goal for insurance a couple of minutes later, and the Express finished this contest with a winning score of 4-2. It wasn’t pretty, but the team got the job done.

The next night, the Express played at home to a visiting team from Paris. The Express came out flying in this game and looked very strong throughout the game. Ingersoll got on the board early in the 1st period scoring at the 9:43 mark. Grayson Lochhead’s shot from the right side put the Express up 1-0. Sommer Lednicky and Max Racicot had helpers on the play. Paris came back at the 3:09 mark with a quick transitional play out of there zone, scoring, and tieing the game up at 1 a piece.

In the second period, the Express continued to dominate the play, but not the score board. Paris went up by a goal at 7:35 of the 2nd. Ingersoll had some good chances, but they couldn’t finish. Paris ended the period leading 2-1.

The 3rd period, was exciting to watch, and it looked like the Express were looking to pull back to back comebacks in two nights. Sommer Lednicky attempting to sneak a goal on a wrap around was stopped, but Eric Savoie was there to pick up the garbage in front of the net, tieing the game up!. There was a couple of chances for both teams to take the lead, but both goalies did a great job keeping there teams in the game, and eventually sharing the point. The final score of the game was Ingersoll 2 - Paris 2.

The Oxford Chiropractic Atom Reps head north on March 5-8 to participate in the annual Chris Knott Memorial Tournament. The Express in past years have had some good results in this tournament, not to mention the time to have some fun and reflect on the past years successes. The Express will be taking on teams from Walkerton, Petrolia, and the home town team from Saugeen Shores. Go get’em Express! The Express next home game is March the 11th, versus Cayuga. See you all there!!!
