Express 'Leaf' Langton with Shutout!
The Oxford Chiropractic Atom Reps traveled to Langton to take on the ‘Leafs’ on February 17th. The Express came into this 2nd game of round robin league playoff action looking for a win after losing to Burford 1-0 in there previous game. The Express also being swept in a tough series with New Hamburg in OMHA’s were looking to get back on a winning streak, and the odds were in there favor winning the previous two seasonal meetings against the ’Leafs’.

The 1st period started off slow, with the Express having some good scoring opportunities, but they couldn’t get the puck by the Langton netminder early on. Collin Weller-Burgess at the 2:42 mark, with good anticipation rushed in to keep the puck on side and finished it with a slapper from the right side to help the Express take the lead. Max Racicot came away with the assist. This opened up the ‘flood gates’ for the Express who didn’t look back after this point. Tyler Goyette with 43 seconds left in the period rushed in from the right side with a nice toe drag beating one defender and using the next as a screen slipping the puck into the back of the net. The Express finished the 1st period up 2-0.

The 2nd period scoring action began at the 7:15 minute mark when Gage Langille picked up a generous rebound, backhanding it by a sprawling goalie. Assists on the play went to Goyette and Weller-Burgess. Two minutes later, strong play along the boards behind the Langton net by Eric Savoie, assisted Tanner Moon with a nice wrap around, sneaking it by the pad of the ‘Leaf’ netminder. The Express were up 4-0 after 2 periods of play.

The wave of scoring continued in the 3rd period with scoring by Moon, Racicot, Savoie, and Moon again, completing the hat trick. Assists also went to Langille and Sam Tasker.. Noah Robinson in net for the Express displayed some strong play, controlling his rebounds, shutting the door on numerous occasions down low, leading his team to its 2nd shutout against the Leafs this year. The final score was Oxford Chiropractic Atom Reps 8 - Langton Leafs 0. Nice game team.

The Express next game is tonight (February 18th, 7pm) at home against Six Nations, so come on out and cheer some potential future olympians. GO, CANADA GO!
