Express Pounced By Hawks But Takeout Stars!!!
The Oxford Chiropractic Atom Express had two games last week.  The Express played the very strong Norwich Knight Hawks and the up and coming Cayuga Stars in Southern Counties league play.

On November 26th, the Norwich Knight Hawks flew into town and were just as fast getting out.  It seemed from the opening faceoff that the Hawks took control of the puck, displaying some nifty passing and shooting skills. The first and second period were two periods to forget, being outscored 6-0, but out of something bad there is always some good.  The Express were down but not out. The Express in the 3rd kept the Hawks in check, playing much better defensively and they created some good scoring opportunities.  The final score was Norwich 7 - Ingersoll 0.  A thumbs up goes to the team for not giving up and showing Norwich that they have something to worry about next time they tangle.
On November 29th, the Oxford Chiropractic Atom Express travelled to the outskirts of Southern Counties playing the Cayuga Stars.  This older arena is smaller in width, has very square corners, and the team boxes are almost as big as the penalty boxes.  The best part of this rink is that the seating actually makes you feel you are on the ice.  Enough of that though, let's get back to game play.  The Express and Stars skated well in the 1st period, both having numerous opportunities to get on the scoreboard first.  The goalies for both teams had other ideas displaying what a brick wall is.  Noah Robinson was solid with some good puck concentration, keeping the Stars out of our net. The 1st period ended as a 0-0 tie.
The 2nd period was much like the first with lots of end to end action and some gritty play by the Stars that got them in some penalty trouble.  Down a man, Ingersoll took the advantage and Tyler Goyette off of a rebound pounded the puck past a helpless keeper.  1-0 Express.  No sooner than a minute later, the Stars came back and caught us out of position, sliding one by our keeper, tieing the game up at one a piece.  The last 21 seconds of the 2nd, Ingersolls' offence put the heat on the Stars, firing shot after shot at there netminder.  Snakebitten, with a barrage of chances for the Express, the 2nd period ended like the first, in a 1-1 tie.
The 3rd period, is where Ingersoll seemed to be stronger, carrying over the play from the last few minutes of the second.  Grayson Lochhead firing a shot on net produced a rebound that Max Racicot picked up and made no mistake finding the back of the net.  2-1 Express. Lochhead, with less than a minute to play, scores on an empty Stars net, putting the game away for the Express.  The final score ended 3-1 for the Express.  Great road win guys and gal!!!
This week is going to be a busy one, with 4 league games  and 3 tournament games in Tavistock.  So get geared up, eat some pasta, get lots of sleep, and take your vitamins.  Oh, yeah... and don't forget about school!!
