Leafs Fall to Express!!
On Thursday, November 19th, the Langton Leafs came to town to face our Oxford Chiropractic Atom Express. After having a strong outing the previous week, the Express were looking to carry this momentum forward against the Leafs. They didn't disappoint.
The first period saw end to end action with both goalies dueling it out between the pipes. The Express team played with an aggressive attack but a hot goalie for the Leafs kept us off the score sheet. The period ended in a scoreless tie, 0-0. The second period seemed to be almost identical to the first but with 2:53 left in the period, Tanner Moon, took the puck past the defender and made a nice deke to the stickside of the Leaf tender, putting the Express up by one. The period ended 1-0 for the Express.
Carrying the play from the second period, Moon tallied his 2nd goal with an assist going to Max Racicot at the 12:15 min mark. 2-0 Express. Then at 7:18 of the 3rd period, with a faceoff to the left of the Leaf goalie, Sommer Lednicky won the faceoff dropping the puck back to Max Racicot who slid into the pocket shooting the puck upstairs to the glove side. 3-0 Express. A few minutes later, Grayson Lochhead streaking down the right side passed the puck to Max Racicot who slapped it passed the Leaf goalie. Great timing guys. 4-0 Express. The Express weren't done yet, with 45 seconds left in the game, Moon shaking off 2 defenders broke thru to the net, beating the goalie, completing the unassisted hat trick. A 'kudos award' goes out to the whole team for taking care of things defensively first and waiting for the other team to make some mistakes. When it happened, we seemed to capitilize on our offensive chances. The final score ended up to be 5-0 for the Oxford Chiropractic Atom Express.Great job team!!
