Game #10 & 11 - Express salvage a point in a home and home with Burford
Unfortunately, I missed our road contest where we lost the front half of a home and home vs the Burford Coyotes. The boys lost the game 3-1, however the commentary centered around the fact that the boys played a strong game, in front of Brandon Plaquet who got the start on the road. Our only goal was scored by Luke DeWit, with the apple going to Logan Pare, who seems to fully healed from an shoulder injury suffered prior to the start of the season.
The Express looked to exact revenge at home last night, as Tanner Belore got the call to patrol the net. It was evident early one that we were going to be in a tight contest. Ingersoll would take the early lead as Matthew Mauthe would give the home team the lead after a nice little passing display. Andrew Power and Garrett Folkema would get credited with assists on the goal.
We would carry the lead into the second, as Belore kept the visitors off the scoresheet by making a multitude of great saves, a trend that continued all evening. We would be able to extend the lead as sniper Ethan Cuthburt maintained his composure and held on the puck until he saw an opening and as usual he did not miss his mark, as Ryan Condotta and Matthew Mauthe assisted. However Burford would continue to press and would score the next two goals to tie the contest. Thankfully, the Express would answer before the end of the period on a miscue by the Coyotes netminder got crossed up with his defender, allowing Robbie Allen to poke a loose puck behind the frustrated goalie giving us a one goal cushion heading to the third. Both Jonah Martire and Jackson Brown would get credit for helpers.
As we pressed to try to add to the lead, it was a scramble in front of the net that we could not clear and the puck slipped by Belore tying the game at 3-3. This would end up being the final, and a solid effort put fourth by your hometown Express. This concluded our schedule until the new year. All the best during the break, and we look forward to strong start in 2023.
