Playdowns semi finals vs. Ayr Game 1
On Monday night the Ingersoll Louie's Pizza and Pasta U15 Express played game 1 of their semi finals playdown series in Ayr.
In the first, both teams were feeling each other out looking for the break to open the scoring and Ayr was able to do that early in the period taking a 1-0 lead going to the second.
In the second the boys pushed the pace and were close a couple of times once hitting the post and the other being robbed by the Ayr netminder. The boys were rewarded late in the period when Ryan Gregg sprung Kellen Whetstone in all alone and he made no mistake going top shelf glove side evening the score going to the third.
In the third, with tensions high and the boys scrambling around their own net, Ayr was able to break the tie when a forward found a loose puck and put in the back of the net. With under five minutes to play Ayr added to their lead by scoring a power play goal and with the net empty they put the final dagger into the boys making the final 4-1.
Game 2 was Tuesday night back at the barn in Ingersoll. It was win and stay alive or lose and the season is over.
