Gm#10 - SC Playoffs - Express End Round Robin with a Draw vs Aylmer.
The U15 Rep team, sponsored by Louie's Pizza and Pasta, laced the skates up on last time to close out the Round Robin 10 game playoffs finishing with a 1-1 draw vs the Aylmer Flames. Jaxon Pinard played a solid game this evening as we need to await the results of a couple more contests to determine our seeding in the 4 team playdowns, with a birth to the OMHA championship tournament on the line.
The boys ended the 10 games with a 5-2-3 record, and will seed anywhere from 1st to 3rd. The final will include Aylmer, Ayr and Delhi.
There was good pace to final contest as we tried to revenge a tough 2-1 loss in on Sunday. It was scoreless until the second as Captain Westin Matsumoto's second effort going hard to the net paid dividends as he gave us a 1-0 lead we carried into the third. The Express were a bit undisciplined tonight as we found the penalty box 5 times, to Aylmer's one ( which was a too many men call ), and even though we had done a fine job killing our shorthanded time, we were burned off a crazy bounce off the glass behind the net, and the puck had eyes for the Flames forward who was able to chip it over Pinard to tie the game. The boys tried desperately to take the lead, but we were unable to get any quality pucks to the net, nor were we successful for any traffic in front of the Aylmer net.
As March break approaches, the boys have a few practices before heading next week to participate in the Garden City Warriors Tournament in St. Catherine's. I will keep you all up to date, game by game next weekend. Best of luck to the squad next week.
