Game #2 NOTL Tournament Ingersoll vs Huntsville
The boys hit the ice for game #2 of the day decked out in their home white jerseys to face the Otters from Huntsville. It was going to be interesting to see how the boys handled the long layover between matches.

Manning the net tonight was Tanner Belore, who earned a shutout on Thursday in Caledonia, and of course we were hoping for some more of the same magic. We are starting to see this U15 squad gel, with every shift they play, and as a parent, and a fan of the game this group of young men are fun to watch.

The Express played a strong first period using their speed to gain the offensive zone. The Otters tried early to throw a few big hits, but our group was prepared for this, and were able to roll off most of the body contact with ease. It was a fairly tame frame, as there were no penalties called. Our cycle game came to life as Josh Robles, who battled hard all night behind the offensive net, found Jeremy Stiles and laid a perfect pass in the slot, and Stiles buried it behind the Otters netminder with only 35 seconds left in the frame. We took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd.

In the second period, our team found it a little more difficult to get any good quality scoring chances, but where we struggle at one one end, our defense stood up and gave the Huntsville squad fits as they had a hard time gaining the zone. When they did get some rubber to the net, Tanner held his own, and ensure he gave them little to feed on with solid rebound control. Dylan Craib received a late minor penalty, but Huntsville off the draw gave Belore a slash after the whistle sounded to negate any man advantage.

The Express got their legs moving again, and continued to use their speed to keep the Otters on their heels. Each 5 man unit did a great job, especially in our defensive zone to ensure their goalie was not left out to dry. With about 3 minutes left, Colton Macpherson with a great effort, won a race to the puck, and Josh was again looking to the slot, where Westin Matsumoto spun off the defender and slit the puck through the five hole of the Otters goalie, and giving Ingersoll a 2-0 lead. As the clock ticked down, frustrations started to boil over as a scrum ensued in front of our net. Sam House would have none of that, and engaged in some shenanigans after the whistle, sending himself and the Huntsville forward to the box for final couple minutes of the contest.

Great win for the boys, who will have to wait until 9pm tomorrow night for their next match up against a team from Stittsville. Great job Louie's Pizza and Pasta U15's. Let's keep the Express train rolling.
