On
Sunday December 16th the Carmeuse Lime Midget Local League team
played host to the Burford Coyotes.
The visiting team got on the board first on a weird goal. Goaltender Dawson Sharpe seemed to have control of the loose puck in the crease, but somehow it trickled in behind him. The Coyotes carried a 1-0 lead into the second period.
Two minutes into the middle frame defenceman Luke White made a nice diving play to keep the puck in at the blue line. Avery Shrigley pounced on the loose puck and directed it towards the net but he was unable to beat the Burford goaltender.
Down 2-0 with three minutes to go in the second, Dylan Goyette won a battle in the corner and relayed a pass to Caleb Clifford whose shot from the point was deflected just wide by Kieghan Osmond. Nolan Costa just failed to convert a pass from Evan Wade with a minute left. With 33 seconds on the clock Lucas Heather put one past the Coyotes netminder to cut the Burford lead in half. Matt Overeem earned an assist on the play.
Ingersoll continued to apply pressure in the third. Three minutes into the period Daniel Martineau kept the puck in at the Burford blueline and flipped a pass ahead to Matt Overeem who found the back of the net, tying the game 2-2. The Coyotes picked up an interference penalty late in the game, Ingersoll generated a half dozen good scoring chances with the man advantage, but Burford held on to preserve the 2-2 tie.
