02-24-2019 Express Hold Their Own Against Tillsonburg
The Carmeuse Lime Midget Local League team came up with a solid effort against the top team in the B Division Saturday evening at the Ingersoll arena.

The Tornadoes opened the scoring four minutes into the first period, but Ingersoll fought back, creating several good scoring chances while enjoying a man advantage. Nolan Costa hit Evan Wade with a pass in the slot, but Wade’s backhander missed the mark. Still on the powerplay, Caleb Clifford slid the puck to line mate Tyson Condotta who unleashed a wicked slap shot that was absorbed by the Tillsonburg goaltender. As the period wound down, number 8 from the visiting team was ejected from the game for throwing a temper tantrum after being assessed a minor penalty for interference.

Early in the second period the Express managed to pull even when Avery Shrigley’s slap shot found the back of the net. Tillsonburg got that one back seconds later, and the Tornadoes carried a one goal lead into the third.

Numerous penalties were handed out in the final frame. Dawson Sharpe kept the Express in the game with some acrobatic goaltending. The Tornadoes kept pressing, and eventually put one more behind the Ingersoll netminder.  Sniper Ty Condotta was ejected for disputing a call with seven minutes remaining.

In the end Tillsonburg held on for a 3-1 victory. The Express travel to Simcoe February 26 to take on the Warriors.
