Catching up on Southern Counties
It's been a busy few weeks for the Dove Dental Peewee AE's. After forcing a game 5 in OMHA's vs Paris, and unfortunately losing to them, the boys focus turned back to Southern Counties.
On Jan 10th, the boys welcomed New Hamburg for their first meeting of playoffs. It was a tough game for the boys, getting down early 5-0. However, they didn't give up. With 3:20 left in the 2nd period, #11 R. Condotta made a pass to #13 T. Murray who took a shot & #17 E. Cuthbert gobbled up the rebound & found the back of the net. Period 2 would end with New Hamburg up 5-1. At 14:12 of period 3, #7 O. Clarke took a shot & #17 Cuthbert put the rebound in the net for his 2nd of the game. The rest of the game had New Hamburg in the penalty box as the game started to get rough. They were also able to put 3 more on the board, to end the game with a score of 8-2 New Hamburg.
Then on Jan 15th, the Paris Wolfpack came to town. After losing out in game of the OMHA playdowns, the boys were looking for revenge. With 8:15 left in the 1st, #4 J. Strom was able to score the first goal of the game. Period 2 was scoreless, with lots of back & forth action, and great saves by #1 T. Belore. With 2:49 left in period 3, #17 E. Cuthbert buried the 2nd goal of the game. Final score: Ingersoll 2 Paris 0, earning Belore his 2nd career shutout.
On Jan 22nd, the Dove Dental Peewee AE's welcomed the St. George Generals.
Period 1 saw St. George with the only goal. Period 2 started off with a quick St. George goal, but a minute and a half later, the boys would get on the board. At 7:33, #17 E. Cuthbert would spin away from a St. George attacker at the blue line, head to the net & pass over to #11 R. Condotta who tapped it in for a beauty goal. Before the end of the period St. George was able to get another to stay ahead 3-1.
Period 3 seen our Express boys battle back & forth, & #1 T. Belore make plenty of saves to keep our boys in the game. Finally at 5:42, #4 J. Strom found #17 E. Cuthbert who beat the goalie for his 2nd point of the night. At 2:44 St. George was able to pull ahead again by 2. Only 19 seconds later, #14 C Groves kept the puck in at the blue line, took a shot & #13 T. Murray grabbed the rebound to pull within 1 goal again. St George was able to pull ahead by 2 goals again with only 29.6 seconds left. But the boys didn't give up. With only 12 seconds left, #14 Groves got his 2nd assist of the night by finding #17 Cuthbert open who slid the puck past the goalie for his 3rd point of the night. Despite a strong 3rd period, and not giving up, the game would end 5-4 in favour of St. George. Good game boys!
On Jan 26th, our Express Peewee AE's travelled to Ayr. We would get on the board first with 5:49 left of the 1st period. #14 C. Groves would stop an Ayr clearing attempt at the line, he bounced the puck off the boards to #18 C. McNeil who took a shot & #17 E. Cuthbert put the rebound in the net. Ayr would score before the end of the period to tie it up. Period 2 was quiet on the scoring front, but #1 T. Belore was busy making plenty of amazing saves. Period 3 had Ingersoll score first at 11:36. #12 K. Brown made a pass up the ice to #17 Cuthbert who took the puck behind the net, and then made a pass to #6 T. Murray waiting in front of the net to tap it past the goalie. At 7:12 Ayr was able again to tie it up. Game would end tied 2-2.
