On the eve of the start of the 2016-2017 Tremblett's YIG Atom AE Season, The Express made their way to Tillsonburg for their final pre-season tune up.
Ingersoll were up against a very talented Tornadoes team and ready for the challenge. The 1st period did not disappoint. Hard fought puck battles combined with a torrid skating up and down the ice resulted with multiple opportunities for both teams. Tillsonburg, with the 1st power play opportunity of the game, struck 1st with quick shots in deep, finally getting one through the Eagle to make it 0-1. The Express did not waist any time going back on the attack when Dylan Lale burst out on a breakaway and made no mistake firing a hard shot on the lower left side leaving no chance for the Tornado goalie tying the game up at 1. Not long after Alexander “The Great” Stratton once again showed some wizardry hooking up with Carter Skevington to put the Express out in front 2-1.
The second period started but the hard skating form both Teams continued. Despite multiple opportunities on both ends, it wasn't until later on in the second that Tillsonburg struck with the tying goal on a screen shot finding the top left corner. Once again the Express came thundering back with some nice passing leading to Dylan Lale making no mistake potting the go ahead goal giving Ingersoll a 3-2 lead entering the third period.
As the 3rd period got underway, both teams put on a display of exciting end to end action with the Tornadoes putting on enough pressure to eventually allow themselves to tie the game up at 3. The last part of the 3rd period ran down with both teams fighting hard and ultimately grinding out a 3-3 tie in an evenly matched showdown with Tillsonburg outshooting Ingersoll 20-17.
The Tremblett’s YIG Atom AE Express open their season Monday night at the Madhouse on Mutual Street when they take on the Paris Wolfpack at 7:00pm. Players are asked to be ready for warm up at 6:15pm.
