Verspeeten Peewees Hauling In Points
The Verspeeten Cartage Peewee Express hauled in 5 of a possible 6 points this week as the Intertown Local League Playoffs roll on.  The boys hit the road this week traveling to Langton, Waterford, and Tillsonburg to complete a busy week.

In Langton Monday night, the Express came from behind to earn a tie with the Leafs.  Langton took advantage of one of their few chances in the first to jump into a 1-0 lead after the first period.  Late in the second Emmitt Robinson tied the game up knocking home a loose puck in front of the net.  Earning assists on the goal were Parker Huitema and Cameron White.  Langton replied immediately and regained their lead heading to the final period.  Late in the third period, Langton got into penalty trouble with 2 players in the box and Ingersoll took advantage.  Huitema knocked in a rebound to tie the game assisted by Keagan Clifford and Robinson.  The Express continued to press for the win but could not manage another goal.  The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The following night the Verspeeten crew traveled to Waterford to take on the Wildcats.  The Express got off to a slow start as Waterford scored just over a minute into the game.  Midway through the first, Robinson tied the game for the Express, assisted by Adam Klotz.  Despite dominating play Ingersoll could not get another one past the Wildcats goalie until the third period.  Klotz kept the puck in at the blue line and fired the puck at the net, deflecting off Robinson and then a Waterford player before finding the back of the net.  Three minutes later Robinson rounded out the scoring on a nice 3-way passing play with Klotz and Huitema to make the final 3-1 for the Express.

To complete their week, the Verspeeten boys trucked down highway 19 for the second week in a row to take on the Tillsonburg Tornadoes #1 team.  Midway through the first period Ingersoll took the lead as Huitema ripped a wrist shot home to complete a nice passing play with line mates Cameron Holland and Alex Georgiou.  Ingersoll continued to pressure the Tornadoes all game but solid goaltending in the Tillsonburg net prevented any further scoring until the third period.  Cameron White and Huitema set up Robinson’s goal in the last minute to seal the 2-0 victory for a dominant Ingersoll team.  Goaltender Hayden White recorded the shutout with strong performances from his defensemen in front of him, Cameron White, Ethan Barrett, and Jacob MacArthur. Aaron Lahey returned from a bout with the flu to provide a boost to the squad after a busy week on the ice.  The Verspeeten Express look to keep rolling this week as they host the Simcoe Warriors before heading to Port Colborne and the annual Golden Puck tournament on the weekend.
