Tremblett’s Open OMHA Playoffs
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Peewee AE Express opened their OMHA playoff action this past weekend against Caledonia.  The Express knew it would be a tough series facing the top team in the Southern Counties League in the first round.

The boys got off to a slow start after the Christmas break as Caledonia opened the scoring less than a minute into the contest.  Ingersoll regrouped and played well through the first period and into the second before Caledonia extended their lead midway through the second.  The grocery boys bagged one of their own as Zach Lewis redirected an Ethan Martire shot behind the Caledonia netminder.  Parker Huitema also pick up an assist on the play.  Caledonia regained their two goal lead on a power play before the second period ended. Heading to the third period the Tremblett’s squad was hanging tough and looking to upset the Thunder.

The boys began to pressure Caledonia, forcing them into a penalty.  However, the power play worked against the Express as Caledonia netted 2 shorthanded goals, ten seconds apart.  The boys played the remainder of the game tough but couldn’t muster any more goals and allowed one more against to make the final 6-1 in favour of Caledonia.  The series will continue this week.

Prior to Christmas the boys completed their regular season, hosting the Simcoe Warriors.  The boys fell 3-1 despite a strong effort.  After falling behind 3-0 after one period the boys began a comeback as Emmitt Robinson ripped one past the Warriors goalie.  Huitema and Lewis created the opportunity with some strong forechecking and drew assists on the play.  A strong defensive core of Cam White, Lucas White, Caleb Clifford, and Colin VanDyk in front of goaltender Dawson Sharpe prevented Simcoe from scoring the rest of the game but Simcoe’s goaltender stood strong and didn’t allow any more rubber past him either.  The final score was Simcoe 3, Ingersoll 1.
