Tremblett’s PeeWee AE Drop Opener
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Ingersoll Express Peewee AE team dropped its first two games of the year over the past week.  The grocery boys hosted the Paris Wolfpack in their home opener and traveled to Embro to take on the Edge.  Despite strong efforts, the boys came up short, losing 4-3 and 6-2 respectively.

Paris opened the scoring four minutes in, tapping in a beautiful pass behind goaltender Dawson Sharpe.  Ingersoll responded two minutes later as Emmitt Robinson tipped in a shot from the blue line by Colin VanDyk.  Dylan Daltrey also drew an assist on the play.  The game remained deadlocked at one over the next ten minutes before Paris scored two quick goals late in the second period to take a 3-1 lead into the third.  With six minutes to play Keagan Clifford intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and fed Ethan Martire who sped past a Wolfpack defenceman and then deked the goaltender, depositing the puck into a wide open net.  The Express were within one and pressing to tie when Paris broke free and scored with three minutes remaining to go ahead by two.  The Express never gave up and managed to score with the net empty and an extra attacker on the ice.  VanDyk ripped a hard shot from the blue line past a screened Wolfpack goalie.  Drawing assists on the play were Martire and Caleb Clifford.  There were a lot of positive aspects during the game despite the negative result.  The boys would look to take those positive aspects on the road when they faced neighbouring Embro on Friday.

The first road game of the season got off to a fast start for the offences.  Embro took the opening faceoff straight up the ice and scored seven seconds into the game.  Not to be outdone, the Express replied 20 seconds later as Robinson stole the puck behind the net, stepped in front and jammed the puck behind the Embro goalie.  By the end of the first period Embro had surged in front 3-1 taking advantage of a couple of Ingersoll errors.  In the second period, the grocery boys bagged the only goal of the period as Martire managed to find the back of the net.  Down one heading to the third, the Express continued to fight hard but a few mistakes led to Embro scoring 3 more goals in the last half of the period to make the final 6-2.  Embro capitalized on their opportunities and sent the boys home still looking for their first win of the season.  The Tremblett’s team has a quiet week next week with no games scheduled and would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
