Rockets Grounded by Express

Tuesday evening the Express Ponting Financial Pee Wee REP team travelled to Delhi to face the Rockets. I tightly fought first period both teams managed minimal scoring opportunities and maintained strong defensive games that kept both sides blank in the first period.  The second period the Express managed to open up offensively as they found themselves with a few power play opportunites.  The Express power play behind Seth Hedges managed to throw a lot of rubber towards the Rocket net, but were unable to find the back of the net. Starting goalie Seth Clark pushed aside all 10 shots he faced in the first 20 minutes of the game.  The third period the Express found themselves on the power play once again and a strong passing sequence by Tye House and Aiden Brown found Joel Verspeeten in stride who was able to maneuver past a Rocket defender and rip a wrist shot top shelf to give the Express a 1-0 later.  A few shifts later rookie d-man Kaleb Kloepfer was able to send winger Evan Hopson with a tape to tape pass through the neutral zone, as Hopson then made a crisp pass to Max Branderhorst who was able to bang in the second goal of the game. For the final 10 minutes the Express continued lockdown and snuff out any Rocket momentum to finish with a 2-0 win.  Carter Spence finished the tandem shut out  as he pushed aside all 11 shots he faced in the final 15 minutes.
The Express return home for their Annual "Movember Game" - (All proceeds from the gate will be donated to Oxford County Cancer Society) Thursday night at the Madhouse on Mutual vs. Hagersville.  Puck Drop is 8:15pm
