Ingersoll Ponting Financial Pee Wee Express Win a Pair of Games
     Your Ingersoll Ponting Financial Pee Wee Express Rep hockey team won a pair of games last week. On November 8th, Ingersoll travelled to Plattsville and thumped their hosts 6-0. In Ingersoll November 12th, the Ponting Pee Wee boys exploded on Cayuga in the third for a 5-2 victory.


November 8th, Plattsville,Ont

     Plattsville gave Ingersoll all the visitors could handle for almost two periods. Ingersoll goalies Seth Clark and Carter Spence shared in the shut out. Spence was especially sharp in the first as Plattsville were at their best.

     Owen Longlade intercepted a Plattsville pass in the neutral zone in the final minute of the second period, beat the defender and fired a wrister to the top corner for a 1-0 Ingersoll lead. In the third, Ingersoll filled the Plattsville net with rubber. Tye House, Aiden Brown, Joel Verspeeten, and AP player Jack Wolfe all scored on the defenceless Plattsville net minder. Brown was awarded his second goal of the game when he was hauled down with one second on the clock. Final score 6-0 Ingersoll.

November 12th, Ingersoll,Ont

     Ingersoll welcomed Cayuga to the old barn on Mutual last Thursday. The visitors would leave empty handed as the Ponting Boys would dominate the third period for a 5-2 win.

     AP call-up Cohen Alexander opened the scoring for the home team with five to play in the first. Cayuga tied the game less than a minute later. The teams were deadlocked after one. Owen Longlade jammed a rebound past the Cayuga goalie with just over five to play in the second to give Ingersoll the lead. Cayuga were able to knot the score again less than a minute after an Ingersoll goal.

     Midway through the third, Longlade stole the puck at the Cayuga blue line and ripped a shot from the top of the circle bar down. The sound of the puck striking the bar could be heard in the lobby. Seth Hedges scored on a wrist shot from the blue line one minute later. Brody Nurse padded the lead with a nice dangle through the Cayuga defence. Evan Hopson rounded out the scoring for the Ingersoll team when he banged in a rebound with two minutes to go. Final score 5-2 Ingersoll.

     The Ponting boys played in the Mitchell Invitational last weekend. The boys had a tough time with the competition but managed to hang on to defeat Midland 3-2 in their first game . Your Express team were defeated by Listowell 5-1 and Tavistock 4-2 and did not advance.

Tonight at the old barn on Mutual, the Pee Wee boys welcome Tavistock in Southern County play. The Titans dismantled the Express 4-2 in Mitchell less than a week ago. Game time is scheduled for 8:15 tonight.
