Lambton Shores 3 Ingersoll 1
In a must win game for the Express on Saturday night the team faced a very explosive Lambton Shores offensive attack. Brodee Nurse and the tandem of Kaleb Kloepfer and Braden Wright were asked to contain Lambton Shores top offensive weapon. The first period the Express came out of the gates with the gas pedal pressed aganist the floor as they had the Shores caught on their heels. A pass back to the point by Tye House to Benham Martin who rifled a shot that produced a big juicy rebound that Joel Verspeeten pounced on and buried in the back of the wicket for a 1-0 lead.
The second period the momentum began to shift as the Express got caught on a defensive breakdown following a Nurse penalty that led to Lambton goal. Lambton was quick to follow up on their first goal as they were able to turn the corner on the Express defense to produce a second score.
A hard fought third period the Express were unable to capitalize on some key scoring opportunities to keep the pressure on the Lambton squad and advance to the semi finals.
Carter Spence was spectacular in his outing as he stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced.
Next up for the Express boys.... they head to Caledonia on Wednesday then back home Thursday for their Annual THINK PINK night that is for Breast Cancer Awareness.
