Tillsonburg Tournament - Friday Recap
Tillsonburg Tournament - Friday Recap

Friday morning the Express Pee Wee REP team opened the Roy Beechy Tournament against the South Huron Sabres.  Ingersoll opened the side when rookie defenseman Kaleb Kloepfer (assists Aden Brown & Joel Verspeeten)pinched in the slot and wired a strong wrist shot past the Sabres netminder.  The Sabres capitalized scoring two goals past Seth Clark late in the first period and midway through the second period giving them a 2-1 lead going into the third frame.  Clark was spectacular in the second period as he pushed back two breakaway attempts to keep the Express in the game.  Gaining momentum as the third period progressed, the tandem of Cohen Belore and Evan Hopson outworked the Sabres front line in the offensive end and were able to set up a streaking Tye House who buried the tying goal in the back of the net.  Seth Clark made five saves and Carter Spence faced nine shots in the third period to preserve the 2-2 tie.
Friday afternoon the Express faced their Highway 19 rival the Tillsonburg Tornadoes. A game that lacked energy and offensive opportunites for majority of the game from both sides, the Tillsonburg squad were able to capitalize scoring two goals past Carter Spence in the second frame.  Spence had seven saves in time in net with Seth Clark saving all four shots he faced.  At the half way point Aden Brown and Tye House were able to capitalize on a Tillsonburg turnover when Evan Hopson banged home the lone Ingersoll goal in the 2-1 loss.
The Express will face Lambton Shores in a must win situation on Saturday night.
