Success for Unifor Local 88 Midget Rep in OMHA First Round
This series had it all!!  The games were full of big hits, stuffed with penalties, and provided some incredible goals from both sides.

Jan 10th – Ingersoll is at home to open the series against Simcoe.  Ingersoll came out flat and gave up 2 goals early.  Rizzo would open the scoring in the 2nd period after picking up a loose puck on the blue line and dangling three defenders.  Simcoe replied 15 seconds later to get back their two goal lead going up 3-1.  With 0.8 seconds left on the clock in the 2nd period Simcoe’s goalie would make a bad clearing attempt.  Lindsay would find the puck on his stick and snap it home bringing it back within 1.  The third period saw Simcoe scoring the last goal giving them the 4-2 win.

Jan 14th – Ingersoll is back on the road looking for redemption and tonight was their night to turn things around.  Simcoe would once again open up the scoring on this night.  Ingersoll would reply as Rizzo completed a drop pass to Jeff Couse who would go bar down to even the game 1-1.  With both teams finding penalty trouble the game provided lots of opportunity for both sides to score. Dunn was able to capitalize on a loose puck in front of the net to put Ingersoll in the lead 2-1.  Ingersoll then tightened up their play and took the defensive stand.  Simcoe had no choice but to pull their goalie at the end of the third.  Jeff Couse would score on the empty net, giving Ingersoll the insurance goal and a 3-1 win over Simcoe.

Jan 15th – Back to back nights of hockey for the boys has Unifor Local 88 back on home ice.  As expected the boys from both sides were still feeling the competitive juices from the night before.   Ingersoll would open up the scoring in this game and not look back.  This game would also see both sides combining for more than 50 minutes of penalties.  Ingersoll would capitalize on every chance they had taking this game 7-1.  Goals for Ingersoll = Dzyngel x 3, Lindsay, Graham, Dunn, and Goyette

Jan 21st – Ingersoll now up 2-1 in the series would hit the road again to face Simcoe.  Simcoe scores early on an Ingersoll turnover in their end.  Ingersoll would rebound as Rachar would shoot from the point and Rizzo gets the tip all tied up 1-1.  The next goal from Ingersoll was a beautiful passing play that included Zegers to Jeff Couse to Lindsay to the back of the net 2-1 for Ingersoll.  Ingersoll would then find themselves in penalty trouble giving up two 4 minute head check penalties on the same shift.  Ingersoll would kill the penalty only to turn around a draw one from Simcoe’s frustration.  Lindsay on the power play would make a beauty drop pass to Graham where he made no mistake, Ingersoll now up 3-1.  Simcoe responded with 2 goals that Malchesky in net -had no chance on stopping game now tied 3-3.  The hockey gods would step in and get the assist on the shot from Hogg from the point that seemed to pinball and go into the net in what seemed like slow motion for both sides Ingersoll back up 4-3.  Ingersoll would finish it off with a snipe from Wein winning 5-3.

Up next is the second round of the OMHA playdowns where Ingersoll will face off against Port Colborne.
