Tremblett’s Ends Season in Semis
Submitted By crobinson on Sun 03 29, 15
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Atom Ae Express traveled to Lincoln to participate in a season ending tournament.  Facing some tough competition the boys played hard and had a successful weekend to bring their season to a close.

In their first game of the tournament, the grocery boys bagged a win against a strong team from Mooretown.  The boys got off to a slow start falling behind 2-0 after five minutes.  Emmitt Robinson fired one home behind a screened goaltender before the end of the first bringing the boys within one.  That goal got the boys going and early in the second Jax Nguyen tied the game with his first of two goals scored within a minute of each other.  Nguyen’s first came off a scramble in front of the net, assisted by Robinson and the second came after streaking down the wing and burying one behind Mooretown’s goalie assisted by Landon Pare.  Midway through the third Nguyen set up Bryson Green to put the boys up 4-2 and then set up Dylan Daltrey for an empty net goal recording his fourth point of the night.  The Tremblett’s team looked to carry the momentum of the 5-2 win into their afternoon game with South Muskoka.

The South Muskoka Bears would provide a stiff test for the Express as they were playing their first game of the day and were well rested coming into the afternoon tilt.  The grocery boys were a little sluggish showing the effects of their morning game but fought hard through two scoreless periods.  Midway through the third period Nguyen continued his strong play breaking down the left wing, cutting to the net and depositing the puck behind the Bears goalie.  Two minutes later Nguyen extended the lead as he fired the puck to the Bears’ net and the puck slid between the netminder’s legs after a failed clearing attempt.  Parker Huitema and Cameron Freeman assisted on Nguyen’s second goal of the game.  South Muskoka would not give up pulling to within one with just under 3 minutes to play.  Freeman would seal the win with an empty net goal late in the game making the final score 3-1 in favour of the Tremblett’s squad.  With the two wins the boys earned a bye into the semi-finals on Sunday morning where they would face Wingham.

The Tremblett’s team were looking to punch their ticket to the finals but Wingham had other ideas.  Despite dominating the first period, the Express came up empty.  Wingham started getting their legs in the second in a relatively even period but neither team was able to break the deadlock.  The third period remained scoreless until the last minute when a Wingham forward managed to steal the puck in the neutral zone and dart in on a breakaway.  He ripped one high just under the crossbar to give Wingham a 1-0 lead.  The grocery boys tried to even the score but could not beat the goaltender in the last thirty seconds.  The Tremblett’s Express season didn’t end the way the boys would have liked but overall their season was a success.

Earlier in the week the Tremblett’s boys headed to Petrolia for a tune-up exhibition game against the Oilers leading into their tournament in Lincoln on the weekend.  The boys jumped out to a lead midway through the first.  Robinson popped a rebound home assisted by Pare.  The Oilers would tie the game before the end of the first and then take over scoring late in the second and twice early in the third to take a 4-1 lead with 10 minutes to go.  The never give up spirit of the boys came through once again as they fought hard and managed to score three times in the last 10 minutes to tie the game at 4.   Pare scored his first of the year, finally getting rewarded for a season of hard work assisted by Dylan Daltrey and Nguyen.  Nguyen got the boys back within one assisted by Huitema and Freeman, and then Lucas Turner completed the comeback assisted by Nguyen.

The entire Tremblett’s Team would like to thank their sponsor, Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer for their support of youth sports in Ingersoll.  The Boys would also like to acknowledge the coaching staff, Mac Green, Bill Huitema, Mike Brown, Chris Pare, and Matt Daltrey for their time and dedication over the past seven months.  Congratulations to team members Seth Clark, Cameron White, Ethan Capern, Cameron Freeman, Austin Krajewski, Jack Brown, Jax Nguyen, Emmitt Robinson, Parker Huitema, Bryson Green, Lucas Turner, Dylan Daltrey, and Landon Pare on a successful season!
