The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Atom AE Express were eliminated
from their OMHA playdowns after a tough 1-0 loss in game 6 to the Caledonia
Thunder. The boys played hard start to
finish in an exciting game in Ingersoll.
Caledonia managed to get one behind goaltender Seth Clark in the second
period and despite a great effort the hometown team could not overcome the
deficit.
The Grocery boys continued their Southern Counties playoffs against Tillsonburg. Perhaps a little flat after the disappointment of being eliminated from their OMHA playdowns, the boys never got their wheels moving dropping the game 4-2. The game remained scoreless through the first and most of the second until Tillsonburg finally opened the scoring. Jax Nguyen replied unassisted for the Express evening the game shortly thereafter but Tillsonburg regained the lead prior to the end of the second. The third period began with the boys down 2-1 and determined not to fall to their highway 19 rivals. Tillsonburg had other ideas as they scored less than a minute into the third to go ahead by 2. Lucas Turner pulled the boys back to within 1 two minutes later assisted by Nguyen and Bryson Green but that was as close as the boys would get as Tillsonburg added an empty net goal in the last minute.
The Tremblett’s team hosted Paris looking to get a win under their belt. The boys took an early lead as Jack Brown banked one in off a Paris defender assisted by Turner. Turner then opened the second period with one of his own assisted by Green. Emmitt Robinson scored from the side of the net after some strong forechecking by Parker Huitema and Dylan Daltrey capitalized on a nice centring pass from Landon Pare to round out a three goal second period. Also drawing an assist on Daltrey’s goal was Nguyen. Paris managed a late tally to make the final 4-1 in favour of the Tremblett’s boys. Southern Counties playoff sontinue with games against Glanbrook and Caledonia this week.
