Tremblett’s End Southern Counties With Win
The Tremblett’s Your Independent Grocer Atom AE team
ended their Southern Counties playoffs with a win but came up one point short
of moving on to the semi-finals.
The Delhi Rockets came to town Tuesday in the last game of the round robin portion of the Southern Counties playoffs. The Express jumped out to an early lead as Emmitt Robinson banged home a rebound assisted by Parker Huitema. The score remained tied through the remained of the first period and the early portion of the second. Bryson Green extended the grocery boys’ lead to two midway through the second wrapping home a beautiful centring pass from Jack Brown after Luke Turner’s forechecking forced a turnover. The 2-0 lead held up until midway through the third when Jax Nguyen raced down the right wing and fired one past the Rockets goaltender to give the Express a 3-0 lead. Green and Ethan Capern drew assists on the play. As the game wore on, tempers started to flare and Delhi got the boys off their game. The Rockets managed to break the shutout bid of goaltender Seth Clark but could not complete the comeback. The final score was 3-1 for the Tremblett’s boys. Unfortunately the boys came up just short of qualifying for the semi-finals but had a great playoffs. The boys will travel to Petrolia for an exhibition game next weekend followed by a season ending tournament in Lincoln at the end of the month.
