No Super Bowl Sunday rest for Team Butterworths Novice L.L.
The coaches were in great spirit during their Sunday night game on February 2nd. Team Butterworths faced Tillsonburg at 7 pm in Ingersoll.
The teams rallied hard to gain control of the puck and capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Tillsonburg's chance came three minutes into the first period with a goal. The period continued back and forth for the remaining six minutes, resulting with Tillsonburg leading 1-0.
Team Butterworths found their opportunity three minutes into the second period. #17 A. Georgiou passed to defenseman #5 C. Groves, he passed the puck to #16 E. Cuthbert to score. Game now tied 1-1. Team Butterworths played hard to seize another scoring moment. Tillsonburg took their advantage and scored with four minutes left in the second period. The second period ended with Tillsonburg leading 2-1.
Ingersoll battled hard throughout the third period. Two minutes into the period, Team Butterworths received a two minute tripping penalty. Ingersoll did an amazing job killing the penalty. Forty seconds after the player returned to the ice, another questionable two minute penalty was given to the Ingersoll team. Again, Team Butterworths worked hard to hold off the Tillsonburg team from scoring. The game final was 2-1 win for Tillsonburg.
