Busy Day of Hockey for Novice L.L. Team Butterworths
Parents and players were on the road Sunday, January 19th for two playoff scheduled games. The first game lead us to Norwich for a 10:30 am game. The second game was a late afternoon game in Delhi.


The result of the Norwich game was a 5-5 tie. Norwich took the lead in the first period with a goal. Team Butterworths turned up the energy in the second period. #16 E. Cuthbert scored two goals. His second goal was assisted by #12 J. Kloepfer. Norwich was equally stoked. They scored back to back each time Ingersoll scored. The second period ended with Norwich ahead 3-2.

The parents acquired sore necks from the side to side neck action watching this game. Norwich scored a goal with almost six minutes left in the third period. Twenty three seconds later, #16 E. Cuthbert retaliated by scoring again. One minute later, #16 E. Cuthbert scored unassisted again, tying the game up 4-4. Thirty seconds later, #16 E. Cuthbert scores again assisted by #9 R. Wolfe. Ingersoll is now in the lead. Amazingly enough, Norwich tied the game with only thirty three seconds left! The final score was tie game 5-5.

The families had a bit of a break before heading to Delhi. Parents and fans had another suspenseful game to watch. Team Butterworths started the period off strong with a #16 E. Cuthbert scoring three minutes in. Ingersoll received a two minute interference penalty.
Delhi scored a short handed goal tying the game up. Delhi soon took the lead scoring another goal, ending the period leading 2-1.

Determined to win, Team Butterworths stepped things up a notch. Delhi received an interference penalty, but capitalized on killing off the two minutes. #10 C. Hardeman got his opportunity in front of the net one minute later and scored. The second period ended tied 2-2.

The parents sat on the edge of their seats waiting to see how the game was going to play out. Both teams battled hard to score. Ingersoll's chance came halfway through the third period. #20 N. Pike carried the puck up into the Delhi zone and shot the puck into the net. Ingersoll in the lead now, 3-2. Team Butterworths worked hard to keep the advantage and held off Delhi. Final score of the game 3-2 for Team Butterworths.
