Home Rink Win for Novice L.L. Team Butterworths
Monday January 16, Simcoe faced Team Butterworths in Ingersoll.
Team Butterworths was raring to go! I am not sure if it was the kids cheering before heading onto the ice or the music playing during the game.
One thing is for sure, they were excited to play hockey! The Simcoe team kept goaltender #1 M. Cudney busy with plenty of shots on net. #1 held them off with amazing saves. The players played their positions and worked hard at scoring attempts. The first period ended scoreless.
Ingersoll stepped up the game plan in the second period. It all came together. With less than two minutes in, #9 R. Wolfe passed the puck to #4 C. Holland who passed it over to #16 E. Cuthbert to score. Two minutes later, #16 E. Cuthbert scored again unassisted. Team Butterworths worked hard at holding off Simcoe from evening up the score. The second period ended 2-0 in favour of Butterworths.
Team Butterworths' hardwork prevailed throughout the third period. #1 M. Cudney continued to keep the puck out of the net, and the rest of the team kept Simcoe at bay. Five minutes into the third period, #9 R. Wolfe passed the puck over to #17 A. Georgiou to score. What a great show of teamwork. The final score was 3-0 for Team Butterworths.
