Midget AE’s Enter Silver Stick Qualifier
The Express rolled into Wellesley Dec. 7th hoping to have a good showing in the Silver Stick Qualifier Tournament.  The team played with determination for 3 full games attempting to come out with enough period points and game wins to advance to the semi’s.

Game 1 vs. Niagara-On-The-Lake

Ingersoll’s Carmeuse Lime Midget AE’s Garrett Maier won the opening face-off and scored unassisted 6 seconds in.   The 2nd goal came just a minute later by Ryan Allard (Austin Webber, Joel Couse). A power play goal scored from top of the face-off circle by Jeff Couse (Maier, Webber) seen the 1st period end with Ingersoll up by 3. NOTL got on the board very early in the 2nd, but Maier answered back quickly with help from Jeff Couse and Luke Zegers. NOTL continued with plenty of pressure. A nice glove save by NOTL net minder prevented a good shot from point man Joel Hall from finding the back of the net.  Midway through the 2nd, the fans were entertained by Joel Couse’s nice dangle with the puck around 2 NOTL players and he roofed it in (unassisted). The period ended in favour of Ingersoll 5 2.  A goalmouth scramble resulted in NOTL scoring early in the 3rd. Ingersoll’s scoring was rounded out with a goal by Adam Dyzngel (Jeff Couse, Matt Foster)
Final score:  Ingersoll 6
NOTL 4

Game 2 vs. CALEDONIA2

First period seen even back and forth play with no penalties for either team. Ingersoll had one power play opportunity. Jesse Wilson continued his fine ways in net with great saves.  Both TC goals were scored in the 2nd period.  Game final:  Ingersoll 0  Caledonia 2

Game 3 vs. Collingwood

This was a must-win situation for Ingersoll to advance on in the tournament. Scoring in the game wouldn’t begin til the 3rd period and with the tourney’s point system, we appeared out of contention.  This didn’t seem to deter the players as all battled hard start to finish. Pucks were ‘out of play’ ALOT in this game. Early on, Ingersoll needed to be stick ready and keep the puck down in the other end. The players demonstrated that they were looking for each other as the crowd witnessed 2 nice stretch passes on the tape this game. We had some good chances during the power play and were moving the puck well.  Schneider rung a hard point shot off the far post. Short time later, another D, Webber let a hard shot go from the point, but their goalie came up with a great save. Malchesky made some great glove and pad saves throughout this game for Ingersoll. No score end of 1st and 2nd periods.  Three mouth guard violations were called during this game. Only minutes into the 3rd, Webber (Graham, Foster) got the Express on the scoreboard.  The lead was short lived as Collingwood tied up the game 2 minutes later.  The D was moving the puck up well. Maier had a couple shots at close range but no luck.  A lot of passing and pressure was happening in the 3rd period. With 3 minutes remaining and the game tied, the bench staff elected to pull our goalie with a dash of hope to advance on.  Collingwood scored an empty netter with .2 seconds on the clock. Game goes to Collingwood 2, 1

TOURNAMENT Positive:  1 PENALTY FREE GAME by Ingersoll.
