Carmeuse Lime travels to Caledonia
The fans came to see some good hockey, and they were not disappointed. The benches seemed a tad shorter than usual for both sides this game night with only 13 skaters for Ingersoll and an even fewer for the Caledonia2 team with 11.
There was some great passing on the tape by all players,
which is always exciting to watch. While the Express played shorthanded, the
Thunder was quick to put the pressure on but couldn't score. The Express were
disciplined with consistent 'fresh leg' changes. Several face-off draws were
won by our centermen. The Midgets worked together successfully to eliminate the
Thunder's chances during a 5 on 3 PP. First period ended with no score. The
crowd was in awe with a couple rock solid hits by Jordan Pacheco. All 3 of
Ingersoll's goals were scored in the 2nd period. The first goal bounced over
their net minder and was jammed in by Adam Dyzngel (Matt Foster). Jess Wilson
continued to keep the game close with save after save including a daring poke
save. During our first power play (Joel Couse drew the penalty), the team was
looking, passing, and with time and pace were able to keep the puck in their
end. The D line-up (Austin Webber, Joel Hall, Mitch Graham, Mason Schneider,
Jordan Pacheco) kept the puck in at the line quite often during this game. When
utilized, the D got some hard shots off from the point. Jess prominently stood
on his head and used every part of his equipment to stop the 30+ shots that he
faced. Jeff Couse rushed down ice and the Thunder's goalie saved the initial
shot, but Luke Zegers jammed the rebound in. Another quick goal by Nick Rizzo
(Garrett Maier) with less than 3 min left in the 2nd period boosted the team's
confidence. The Express continued to apply pressure and take shots on their
goalie. The D used good stick work to break up plays consistently. A scramble
in front of our net, and the Thunder was able to get on the scoreboard early in
the 3rd. Ingersoll's 2nd power play seen more shots on our net (than theirs)
but Jess continued to be solid between the pipes. Our gas tanks appeared to be
running on empty midway thru the 3rd. Thunder's #12 was the sparkplug that had
relentless energy and brought the game within Thunder's reach scoring their 2nd
goal with under 4 minutes left in the game. Exciting last minute of play with 4
on 4 action. Thunder then pulled their goalie but ultimately Ingersoll won the
hard fought battle by a score of 3 / 2. Caledonia2 visits the Ingersoll barn on
Thursday.
Positives: Will Trudgen returned to play after an
extended leave and didn't miss a beat displaying some great effort. The team is
hopeful that Tristin Koster will return to play before our Silver Stick Tourney
Dec 7th
