Part 2 of the 2012-2013 Season Underway
The first 10 games have been played, the teams have been seeded, and now it's time for the second half of the season to be played. After a short hiatus, the R. McNiven and Sons Ingersoll Express Atom Rep team resumed action on Thursday, November 22, hosting the Port Dover Sailors. The teams played a back and forth, safe first period, with each team registering only 3 shots on net. Ingersoll opened the scoring in the second with a goal by Cole Ellis.
Following that goal, the flood gates opened, and Ingersoll added three more goals. Port Dover was able to put one on the board before the end of the period, and Ingersoll took a 4-1 lead into the third. The Express boys continued to pressure Port Dover, adding a couple more goals in the third period. Final score, Ingersoll 6, Port Dover 1. Other goal scorers for Ingersoll were Brennan Rupert (2), Daytn Racicot, Parker Hodgson and Josh Clark.
The team next travelled to Port Dover for a rematch on Wednesday, November 28. This time Ingersoll knew that they had to come out strong against Port Dover, and they did, registering 11 shots in the first period, and solving the Port Dover goalie on two occasions. The team continued to pour it on against Port Dover in the second, and by the time the buzzer sounded after two, Ingersoll held a commanding 6-1 lead. In the third Port Dover showed that they weren't giving up, and netted two more of their own goals. But it was too little, too late, as Ingersoll skated to a 6-3 win. Goal scorers for Ingersoll were Parker Hodgson, Nathan Graham, Brennan Rupert, Cole Ellis, Symon Hutcheson and Ben White.
The following night, Thursday, November 29, Ingersoll hosted the Tillsonburg Tornadoes. This was a close fought game, with Tillsonburg giving Ingersoll everything they could handle. After a back and forth first period, Ingersoll held a slim 1-0 lead at the break. The team added another in the second, and seemed to be in fine shape going into the third period. Tillsonburg didn't seem to think so however, and in the third period they were able to knot the game at 2-2. However, a couple late goals by Parker Hodgson sealed the game, and Ingersoll went on to win 4-2. Goal scorers were Parker Hodgson (3) and Ethan Emerson.
Sunday, December 2 was time for the rematch with Tillsonburg, this time in their arena. On their first shot of the game Ingersoll scored, taking a very early 1-0 lead. From that point on, Ingersoll continued to press, controlling much of the game. The team were all over Tillsonburg, and in the end had a 7-1 victory. Goal scorers for Ingersoll in this game were Daniel Martineau (2), Ben White, Daytn Racicot, Cole Ellis, Josh Clark and Davin Gray.
The team sees it's next action on Thursday, December 6 when they host Aylmer at 7pm, before heading to Blenheim for a tournament over the weekend.
