The R McNiven and Sons Insurance Brokers Ingersoll Express Atom Rep team took to the ice on Friday, March 15 to faec the host Huntsville Otters in their first game of the final tournament of the season. After 2 games in 2 nights and a long drive up the 400, some people were wondering if the team may be a little tired and flat. Ingersoll came out and played a solid first period, but after 10 minutes were unable to solve the Huntsville netminder and the score was knotted at 0-0.
The second period showed more of the same, with Ingersoll applying pressure but unable to put the puck in the net. Huntsville was able to find the back of Ingersoll's net though, and took a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. Cue the comeback music though. This team has been a great tourament team this year, and they weren't gonna let this game slip away either.
Just three minutes into the third, Parker Hodgson jumpedon one of his patented zone to zone rushes, and with a nifty little move slipped it past the sprawling goaltender to make it 1-1. Two minutes later, Ingersoll took advantage of another odd man rush, and Hodgson was able to put the puck past a guessing goaltender, putting Ingersoll ahead 2-1. Huntsville pulled their goalie late in the game, but were unable to even crack into Ingersoll's zone, and the team skated to the 2-1 victory.
Next up for Ingersoll is Saturday morning against the Ennismore Eagles.
